Salary: $306,000
Per Annum (the CNMI enjoys one of the lowest tax burdens in the U.S.)
About The Practice
This is a great ER job. Lower volumes than a typical mainland ED (average 1-2 patients per hour), very appreciative
patients, virtually no drug seeking, no psych boarding, no violent patients, non-litigious culture, and minimal EtOH waiting
for sobriety in the hallways. Competent, dedicated career nursing staff. Bread and butter emergency medicine, with a touch
of the exotic: marine envenomation, ciguatera toxicity, post-strep glomerulonephritis, etc. Our patients are approximately
20% peds.
We have limited subspecialty care, which means you’re
doing ortho reductions and splints, complicated hand lacs, and no cardiac catheter lab means lysis for STEMIs. We have
bedside SonoSite US, video laryngoscope, 1 resus room, 6 monitored beds, 2 fast-track beds, 3 hallway beds, 24-hour Xray,
CT, and Ultrasound on call. EHR is Care Vue.
The ER Advanced Practice
Professionals (APP) are excellent, well-adjusted to the patient population here, and have a thorough understanding of how
to navigate the medical system of Saipan as they also work in other clinics and wards in the hospital. The APPs sometimes
staff the outlying islands, and occasionally we will field consults and requests for medical transport to Saipan. We
are a tight knit group working in a low-resource setting. Low volumes, great pathology, appreciative patients - emergency
medicine at its best.
